The viral Dubai dark chocolate bar, but make it healthier
Indulge in a decadent and nutrient-dense dessert with sweet dates, rich dark chocolate, creamy pistachio butter, and a sprinkle of sea salt.

It’s the weekend! After a full week of work, life, and busy schedules, winding down on a Friday night with a good sweet treat is one of my favorite rhythms. Often, the sweet treat involves chocolate, so this dark chocolate pistachio bar is a great choice. At grace & greens, we love some added nutrients. That’s why this bar has a base of dates, which are great for added energy, iron, digestion, and more. Hope you enjoy this sweet treat!
Ingredients (8-10 servings)
1 cup pitted dates
8 tbsp pistachio nut butter (or 1 oz bag of unroasted + unsalted pistachios)
1 cup dark chocolate chips
A few tsp sea salt
Utensils & Appliances
large mixing bowl
food processor
hot water kettle
pyrex large measuring cup for heating chocolate
measuring spoons
pan & parchment paper
Instructions
Heat up about 1 1/2 cups of water to boiling.
In a pyrex measuring cup, add your dates and pour boiling water over dates. Let rest for 1 - 2 minutes to soften dates and pour the water down the drain.
Add softened dates to food processor and blend until a sticky mixture forms.
On a pan, layer the parchment paper and the sticky mixture on top. Press down to form the bottom layer of the bars.
Next, you have 2 options. If you are using whole pistachios, add to the food processor and blend for up to 10 minutes, or until a butter performs. You can also purchase the pistachio butter (ensure no additives) and layer it onto the sticky date base.
In the same pyrex cup from earlier, add your dark chocolate chips. Warm the chocolate by heating in the microwave for intervals of 30 seconds until the chocolate is melted.
Layer the chocolate on top of the date and pistachio base.
Top with a few pinches of sea salt and place in the freezer to harden.
After about 1 hr, take out the sweet treat and slice it into bars.
Store bars in an air tight container in the freezer so you can enjoy all week long!
Pro Tip: Remember to thaw them in the fridge before consuming so you don’t hurt your teeth.
